Panic not!

Us dentists consider ourselves to be pretty friendly folk but there are plenty of people who really don’t want to be our pals and can’t stand the thought of ‘opening wide’ or letting us anywhere near their mouths.
This anxiety about coming to see us can range from a mild flip of the tummy while waiting to sit in the dentist’s chair to a full on life limiting phobia.
There are a number of reasons why people aren’t keen to make our acquaintance including:

  • Worrying about potential pain
  • A fear of losing control
  • Being judged about the state of your teeth (tut tut!)
  • A bad dental experience as a child
  • The medical smells, sounds (that drill!) and scary looking equipment
  • Having a needle phobia

But never fear, no matter how much you hate us, we forgive you, and will offer all the support you may need. Joking aside, we have heaps of experience in treating worried or phobic patients and know how difficult it can be for some people to come and see us.

And relax…

One of the first things to do is come and see us for a chat so you can see how lovely our practice is and learn a little about what to expect. Don’t be shy about letting us know that you’re scared, we really do understand and will do all we can to help. Here are just a few ways we can alleviate your fears:

IV sedation

This technique, delivered by a specially trained dentist, will not send you to sleep but will render you completely relaxed. You will be aware of your surroundings but blissfully worry free, also you’ll hardly remember a thing about the whole experience.

Dental Wand

This method of anaesthetic delivery is much less painful than a traditional syringe as it administers the effective drug in a slow, controlled way with a computerised device. It’s magic!

Welcoming environment

Our treatments are delivered in a warm, welcoming environment designed to help you feel at ease. We also only employ the friendliest of people so you can be assured of a very smiley and comforting welcome.
Remember – it’s important to see your dentist regularly because completely avoiding check-ups can be seriously damaging to your dental health. Also the longer you leave it the worse any problems could get and that may mean much more complicated and lengthy treatment. We won’t tell you off for not coming to see us sooner and definitely won’t be judgemental about the state of your teeth.
Call us to discover how we can make your dental experience much less of an ordeal…
