Free mouth cancer screenings at The Courtyard Clinic

Mouth cancer (also known as oral cancer) is a type of head and neck cancer which accounts for 2% of all new cancers in the UK and is on the increase. It is caused by risk factors such as smoking and alcohol leading to an abnormal and uncontrolled growth of certain cells in the mouth.
Mouth cancer includes cancer that starts anywhere in your mouth, including:
• your lips
• your tongue
• your gums
• in the floor of your mouth or under your tongue
• inside your cheeks and lips
• in the roof of your mouth (the palate)
• in the area behind your wisdom teeth
It is important to examine you own mouth on a regular basis and/or attend free annual screenings in November at your local Dental Practice. The latest figures from the British Dental Health Foundation show that more than 6000 people will be diagnosed with mouth cancer this year in the UK alone. At these current rates of growth, those diagnosed with the disease will have doubled within a single generation!
As part of Mouth Cancer Awareness Month The Courtyard Clinic will be running a free mouth cancer awareness clinic for the peopl of Surrey and Middlesex on ………. November. Please come down and see us if you have any concerns about an area in your mouth, mouth cancer in general or you just want some peace of mind. Call Alison to book a screening on 01932582949.
