About Us
Dental Technology

The Courtyard Clinic in Chertsey, Surrey is equipped with the ultimate in dental technology, from our CEREC CAD/CAM restorative system, the ‘WAND’ anaesthesia system, ‘T-SCAN’ computerised occlusion (bite) and TMJ (jaw joint) analysis to panoramic digital x-ray systems, LASERS and ‘CRYSTAL AIR’ air abrasion (no drill dentistry).

Our treatment rooms are fitted with the best equipment available, state-of-the-art Sirona dental equipment.

CEREC
CEREC is one of the most exciting new technologies in dentistry. Our four computer-controlled CAD/CAM CEREC machines enable us to easily perform a custom designed complete ‘smile makeover’ of 10 restorations in one appointment. With CEREC, there are no temporary restorations, no need for impressions, no two-week wait while the laboratory fabricates therestoration, no need for a second appointment, and because the process is so precise, you can conserve a greater proportion of your natural tooth. CEREC is an all-ceramic material similar to porcelain. It is bio-inert, incredibly strong, and has been designed to mimic the natural physical properties of tooth enamel - making it the ideal material for use in tooth restoration.

The Wand– anaesthetic system
In keeping with our commitment to provide you with the latest and best advances in dentistry, we now offer anaesthesia with the ‘magic’ Wand.

Velscope
Oral cancer screening
At The Courtyard Clinic we are using the latest Velscope system that provides a quick painless and non-invasive screening of your oral health.

The Velscope System is a revolutionary hand-held device that provides dentists and hygienists, with an easy-to-use additional mucosal examination system for the early detection of abnormal oral tissue.

Velscope is a light that we can shine on the oral mucosa and look through a special lens we can see normal tissue and we can see tissue that looks abnormal.

This new technology allows us to become aware of potential problems in the early stages so we can come to an earlier diagnosis that would lead to early treatment and a better and more positive outcome.

Laser Treatment
Laser treatment has many uses in our practice, including; removing bacteria in periodontal (gum) disease, minor surgery, root canal treatment, healing of ulcers and desensitising teeth. In fact, even severe cases of gum disease can now be treated and many teeth that were previously considered hopeless can be saved.

Digital X-rays
We use state of the art digital panoral x-ray technology. These low dose x-ray pictures are available for immediate viewing - with no waiting for film processing. We also use an intra-oral camera (the Toothcam) which allows us, and you, to see things better, and for problems to be diagnosed earlier.

Cone Beam CT Scanner
In addition The Courtyard Clinic boasts the latest cone beam scanner which enables 3 dimensional imaging of the jaw which is essential in the provision of successful implants.

The benefits of cone beam imaging are:

  • Cone beam imaging exposes patients to less radiation than common CT due to focused X-Rays
  • These focused X-Rays reduce the scatter that occurs with other imaging devices
  • The scan is fast and comfortable for the patient. A scan is completed within a few seconds
  • One scan yields volumes of images and manipulated for in depth examination

Crystal Air – (air abrasion)
Air Abrasion is perfect for nervous patients – there are no needles and no drills - just air! The machine uses a fine stream of air and harmless aluminium oxide particles (a tasteless substance found in toothpaste), with none of the noise and vibration you get with conventional drills.

Diagnodent
We use the latest, most precise, diagnostic tool available – the KaVo DIAGNO-dent. The system uses a sophisticated electronic laser beam which helps us find even the smallest areas of concern with amazing accuracy - alerting us to any potential problems that would otherwise go undetected.
