Whitening and sensitivity

Posted in: Dentistry, by thecourtyardclinic, on 13th October 2009 | Comments Off on Whitening and sensitivity

A friend has told me that although she is really pleased with the results of her whitening, she did suffer from some sensitivity. Is this normal and how could it be prevented?

It isn’t unusual that some patients suffer with a little sensitivity after their whitening proceedure. Don’t worry it doesn’t last and there are ways it can be prevented! To help ease the discomfort, you can use a sensitive toothpaste such as Sensodyne or Colgate Total Sensitive or the very effective ‘Tooth Mousse’, as part of your daily routine. Also putting the toothpaste or mousse into your whitening trays and wearing for an hour or so or even overnight will really help…..as well as strictly following the detailed instructions we give you when we fit your home whitening trays.

It is one of the first things we notice when we meet someone for the first time, so it’s worth paying as much attention to your smile as you do to other aspects of your appearance.

We are an experienced dental team and are proud to deliver excellence, innovation and results that are second to none, using state of the art techniques in a practice dedicated to your comfort, wellbeing and most importantly, your smile.
